1.CERTIFICATE III IN AGRICULTURE (PLANT SCIENCE)

Duration of the Certificate III in Agriculture Plant Science course is 14 weeks

GRADUATE OUTCOME

Upon successful completion of this course, graduates will be able to:

  • Determine different types of soil in Vanuatu and their suitability for different types of crops;
  • Apply basic theories and research procedures of Plant Genetic Resources (PGR);
  • Apply basic understanding of Vanuatu climatic condition, climate change and adverse weather conditions to agriculture and forestry;
  • Apply basic knowledge of Vanuatu plant pests and diseases to agriculture and forestry;
  • Apply knowledge of plant management silviculture and farming systems;
  • Apply basic knowledge of post-harvest management on different perennial tree and annual crops;
  • Identify and use agricultural and forestry machineries;
  • Apply required practices in the workplace;
  • Apply knowledge of aerial photographs and navigation in forest areas

EMPLOYMENT PATHWAYS

The Certificate III in Agriculture (Plant Science)

  • Assistant Field Supervisor in both the Agriculture and Forestry industries

2. CERTIFICATE III IN ANIMAL SCIENCE (ANIMAL HUSBANDRY)

Duration of the Certificate III in Animal Science course is 12 weeks

GRADUATION OUTCOME

Upon successful completion of this course, graduates will be able to:

  • Differentiate between ruminant, pseudo-ruminant and monogastric animals;
  • Select, breed and cull livestock animals according to the regulations;
  • Perform animal husbandry practices including mating of livestock;
  • Assist with birthing of livestock animals according to the regulations;
  • Develop knowledge on common veterinary drugs and medicines

  • Animal Technician in Livestock Industry

must be brought from home or bought in Santo or Vila
then brought to the College. The College will provide
Mattresses only. There are storage facilities in the
Dorms for personal belongings

Requirements 

  • Completion of Certificate IV in Agriculture or Science
  • Year 13 with good Achievement in Mathematics, English, French, Chemistry and Biology

3. Diploma of Agriculture (Plant Science)

Duration of the Diploma of Agriculture (Plant Science) Course is 40 weeks
